In Yahoo! Answers, is it OK to call anyone pest in his or her answer under under any circumstance?
Just in my opinion, here one can try to be Superman online with his superior intellect, but it, too, always comes with responsibility: otherwise, he could become a short-sighted man of self-righteous condemnation rather than a man of justice. Without a certain degree of compassion. Online, you don't always get to see a whole picture of an issue or a questioner.
I find that answers are best given without assuming too much about the person in question. Just focus on the facts as they are presented. if that's not enough, you can always ask for clarification.
Being courteous is a given. It's easy to look down on someone because you think you are a lot smarter than they are, but showing it won't help anyone.
I am occasionally inclined to leave some less than friendly comments if I am certain the poster is a troll, but I find it helps my blood pressure considerably if I either ignore the question or hit the report button instead.
What irks me about many answers in this place, is that people often answer personal question with a rather large amount of emotion and zeal involved. I get the impression some people compare the questionnaire's issue with their own personal situation and answer accordingly. That generally creates very short sighted and utterly unhelpful responses.
Before you answer anything, try to imagine yourself on different sides of the issue and come to an /objective/ and balanced conclusion without letting your personal feelings or emotions about the issue run wild.
In the case of an obvious troll, don't even bother. Just count to ten and move on to a different question.
