Why are people so rude to call center workers?
I work in a call center. it's an INBOUND call center, which means we're not calling YOU. People call US to order services for pest elimination. On our calls we are QUALITY monitored which means we have a series of questions we HAVE to ask otherwise we get FIRED. SOME of the questions are kinda stupid and redundant and people get MAD when we ask them or extremely irritated but they don't understand that we feel the SAME WAY but if we don't ASK THEM then we GET FIRED, but people are SO RUDE. THEY are calling US requesting HELP. Why are they so rude?
I have worked at a telephone company call center too.You learn to not take it personally. I know what you mean about having to say it. I just remind them that I'm trying to solve their problem to please be patient with me. Kill them with kindness. If you stay calm, it makes them look silly for getting crazy with you. They feed off your frustration.
