Will a sonic cat repellent upset my pet rabbits?
I have a rabbit hutch in the corner of my garden, and have several pest cats which visit, poop everywhere and scare the rabbits. I like the idea of a ultrasonic deterrent (like the Big Cheese one on Amazon).... but I'm pretty sure my rabbits won't like it so much. Does anyone know if they are compatible, e.g. can I use it on the other side of the garden maybe? Or does the sound travel well?
Studies show that a rabbit’s hearing range is from 360 Hz to 42,000 Hz., whereas a cat can hear from 45 Hz to 64,000 Hz. This would suggest that provided the ultrasonic deterrent emited a sound higher than 43,000 Hz that your rabbits shouldn't be able to hear it, but cats would.
Some products offer the option of ultrasonic sound or a sudden burst of water to deter unwelcome cat visitors. If you worried about your rabbits being able to hear the deterrent, you could always buy one of the motion sensor deterrents that only sprays water.

Hope this helps.
