Common garden lizards. Where do they lay their eggs?

Galveston, TX area. These are just your typical common variety lizards I guess. Where do they lay their eggs and how do you recognize them? Do they eat pest insects?

they lay eggs in hidden knitches for protection and in holes in the ground. we have an artficial wreath deco on our door and we once found 1 dozen anole eggs between the branches in it. they are white, oval and about 1/2-3/4 long. yes, i have seen them eat gnats, sandfliess, dragonflies, and moths.
