Skunks like to dig their den sites under low lying decks, porches, sheds and foundations. This is one reason why skunk removal is necessary. A skunks den sites are typically near food source supply. A skunk will eat bird food that's on the ground below bird feeders. A skunk will go into buildings to consume pet food. From time to time, skunks drop into window wells seeking food and can't escape.

When a skunk is threatened, they will hoist they're warning flag, the tail. If their warning is dismissed it will reel around and eject, through a pair of nozzles in side their anus. Skunk spray is a burning, unpleasant, yellowish fluid. Skunk spray in the eyes stimulates acute pain and momentary loss of sight. Abrupt movement, disturbances or a close advance could set off the skunk to spray. A Developed skunk is able to fire four to six successive discharges, accurate up to 15 feet. The cloud could reach three times as far. The odor can carry up to a mile. Young skunks are able to discharge this scent.

Covered live trapping is the most effective way on how to get rid of skunks. Incorrectly executed skunk control may comprise of a really foul-smelling error. Handle trapped skunks with care, keep in mind that skunks may carry the deadly virus rabies. Make sure you know your local and state laws before proceeding with skunk control.
