Cockroach Control - Natural Pest Control

Man has been engaged in combat with our mortal enemy, the cockroach, for what seems like an eternity. Experiment with some of the following natural pest control methods during your next meeting with one of those cockroach buggers.

* Keep cockroaches away from dog and cat food by sprinkling baking soda around the food bowl.

* Roaches like high places, so homeowners should put boric acid, which is toxic to pests, on top of kitchen cabinets. This also keeps boric acid out of reach of your children and pets and is more likely to kill the infiltrating roaches.

* Have you heard of Diatomaceous earth? It is a powerful, organic powder that will decimate roaches and is nontoxic to humans. Just place it in roach infested areas. The powder will eat through the exoskeleton of the roach and kill individuals within 48 hours and the colony within 2 weeks, without ever putting your children or pets at risk.

* Surprisingly, catnip is an effective cockroach control substance as well. Place catnip in roach present areas until your heart is content. You can be creative and saturate boiling water with catnip. This safe concoction can be sprayed in crevices where cockroaches hide. Be sure you don’t have any cats, otherwise your cats will go berserk from the constant high.

* Conduct a direct assault on roaches by spraying any visible pests with a spray bottle filled with soapy water.

* Put bread soaked beer in an empty, large container like a coffee can. The roaches will crawl in, and be unable to crawl back out again.

* Organic plants such as bay leaves, garlic, and cucumber are simple and effective repellents against cockroaches. Throw these in susceptible areas.

* Another natural repellent is the hedge apple, the fruit for the Osage orange tree. Keep them in range of cockroach paths.
