Is Your Kitchen Moth Infested? Tips On How To Get Rid Of Them
Sometimes moths become a kitchen pest problem. Most of these moths are known as pantry moths because they get into everything in your kitchen area. If you have an infestation, you normally will find these in or around your packaged food in your kitchen. There are some easy ways of getting rid of this pest problem in your home.
The first course of action is to clean up. Go to your pantry and take all the items out of it. Look at each item for small holes the moths may have burrowed inside the item. You want to throw all these items away as their might be larvae inside. It's a good idea to wash all the cabinets and items in the cabinets. If you have seen these moths around the house, you might want to clean out closets as well since this is another location that the moths might be mating in.
The next step is to get a hold of something called bay leaf. Moths hate this. Take bay leaf and put them inside some pantyhose or mesh material and leave them on every cabinet around the kitchen. The advantage of this is that it's not harmful to you so it's safe to store around your food and your dishes. Keeping it in pantyhose will keep it all in one place making it easy to move around without getting the crushed up bay leaf all over the place.
Purchase some moth traps. There are ones specifically made for pantry moths and won't ruin your food if in the same area. These traps are normally extremely cheap compared to most pest control products. These have pheromones in them which will attract the moths to the trap keeping control of the population. This will be much less than the cost of losing bags and packages of food over and over. Use these traps until the moth problem has been solved.
