Natural pest/mice control??

MN is starting to get cold, so here come the mice! I haven't found this season's entry point to plug up yet, so need a non-toxic deterrent. My son said his car restoration books advise putting cubes of Irish Spring out, as the scent is so strong mice won't come around. Is this true? If not, what else? We were using live traps for several years, but many of the little buggers are now figuring out how to escape them!

Well, as a compassionate person (aka bleeding heart female) who hates killing anything, I say repel them, don't kill them! Try this stuff (see link below) or find something like this with fox or badger urine. You can't smell it but they can!

Having a cat or two helps. Also you may want to buy tupperware containers for your dry goods (rice, flour, cereal, etc.) so they can't smell it or get to it.
