dried plants & flowers attracts small insects.how can i get rid of this pest?

i dried leaves & petals before & saw some very small insects grow in them..i now want to make a wall hanging with dried flowers & leaves..i am worried the pests will ruin my creation..wot do i do?

take dried ones and spray transparent paint then paint with bright colours and then apply varnish
